Skoda Auto India registered 5,760 units in domestic sales in May 2026, recording a 15% year-on-year decline compared to 6,740 units sold in May 2025. On a month-on-month basis, Skoda’s volumes were also down 16% from 6,886 units sold in April 2026.

The sales performance in May 2026 was largely driven by the Skoda Kylaq, which continued to remain the brand’s highest-selling model. However, despite leading the chart, Kylaq volumes declined both on a YoY and MoM basis.

  • Kylaq was the brand’s top contributor in May 2026 with 3,443 units, accounting for nearly 60% of Skoda’s total domestic sales during the month. However, Kylaq sales were down 30% YoY from 4,949 units in May 2025 and declined 16% MoM from 4,089 units in April 2026.

  • Kushaq emerged as the biggest positive highlight in May 2026. The SUV recorded 1,310 units, more than doubling from 644 units in May 2025, translating to a strong 103% YoY growth. However, compared to April 2026, Kushaq sales declined 29%, as the model had sold 1,851 units in the previous month.

  • Slavia registered 861 units in May 2026, down 8% YoY from 937 units in May 2025. However, the sedan managed to post a 4% MoM growth over 830 units sold in April 2026.

  • Kodiaq sold 146 units in May 2026, down 30% YoY from 208 units in May 2025. However, the premium SUV grew 26% MoM over 116 units sold in April 2026.

Skoda Sales Analysis – May 2026

Skoda’s May 2026 performance reflects a mixed trend. The brand’s overall sales declined both YoY and MoM, primarily due to lower volumes from Kylaq and a sharp sequential drop in Kushaq. However, Kushaq’s 103% YoY growth and Slavia’s month-on-month improvement offer some positive signals.

The sales mix also shows Skoda’s increasing dependence on SUVs. Kylaq and Kushaq together contributed 4,753 units, which is over 82% of Skoda India’s May 2026 sales. This clearly underlines the SUV-led nature of Skoda’s current India strategy.

Key Takeaways

Skoda India sold 5,760 units in May 2026, down 15% YoY and 16% MoM. The Kylaq remained the best-selling Skoda model with 3,443 units, while the Kushaq delivered the strongest YoY growth at 103%. The Slavia remained relatively stable, posting a small month-on-month improvement, while the Kodiaq improved sequentially despite a YoY decline.

For Skoda, sustaining Kylaq momentum and building on Kushaq’s YoY recovery will be crucial in the coming months. With SUVs forming the majority of its volumes, Skoda’s India performance will continue to be closely linked to demand in the compact and mid-size SUV segments.
