India’s Automobile Production drops by 14% in FY21, as per SIAM.

SIAM has released the latest data for FY21, wherein it has reported that the total production has dropped by 14% in FY21. The figure for FY21 was 2,26,52,108 units vs 2,63,53,293 in FY2020. (The figure includes Passenger Vehicles, Commercial Vehicles, Three Wheelers, Two Wheelers, and Quadricycles.)

The sector-wise numbers are as below :

  1. Passenger Vehicles : 27,11,457 vs 27,73,519 (decline of 2.24%)

  2. Commercial Vehicles : 5,68,559 vs 7,17,593 (decline of 20.77%)

  3. Three Wheelers : 2,16,197 vs 6,37,065 (decline of 66.06%)

  4. Two Wheelers : 1,51,19,387 vs 1,74,16,432 (decline of 13.19%)


Exports too registered a decline across the sectors. The details are as below :

  • Passenger Vehicles: 4,04,400 vs 6,62,118 (decline of 38.92% )

  • Commercial Vehicles: 50,334 vs 60,379 (decline of 16.64%)

  • Three Wheelers: 3,92,941 vs 501651 (decline of 21.67%)

  • Two Wheelers: 32,77,724 vs 35,19,405 (decline of 6.87%)
