CNG car sales shot up to 2,25,196 units in CY2021 and recorded its best yearly volume yet! Maruti Suzuki which was amongst the earliest OEMs to introduce CNG-powered cars in India clocked the highest-ever yearly CNG car sales of 1,87,406 units in 2021. Maruti CNG models contributed to over 83% of CNG cars sales in India!
Do note that only 2 OEMs (Maruti and Hyundai) had CNG offerings in 2021. However; Tata jumped the CNG bandwagon too and dispatched 206 units at the end of 2021 to its dealerships.
CNG cars sales trend in India –
CNG cars sales have shot up to an all-time high of 7.3% in 2021 and is trying to gain volumes from value-conscious buyers and to a certain extent diesel car buyers too (on the lower end of the price band).
