General Motors stick to one’s guns to advance its commitment to workplace inclusion by uniting with the Gender and Diversity KPI Alliance (GDKA). By agreeing on signing for this initiative, GM takes a pledge to use three key performance indicators (KPIs) as a part of its efforts to measure and increase diversity in its administration.

The KPIs evolved based on the work of the World Economic Forum International Business Council, the Global Reporting Initiative, and other advocates, will measure the following:

1. Percentage of representation on the GM board

2. Percentage of representation by employee category

3. Pay equality: the ratio of compensation by employee category (i.e. equal pay for equal work)

Kristen Siemen, GM vice president of Sustainable Workplace, chief sustainability officer, and Catalyst Board of Advisors member said, “Diversity in all its dimensions – including of thought and experience – creates a stronger workforce and promotes innovating thinking.”

“By committing to measure diversity using these KPIs, corporate leaders are taking the steps necessary to drive change,” exclaimed Lorraine Hariton, GDKA co-chair and Catalyst president and CEO.
