Top 3 Performers (May 2024 Sales)

Punch (18,949): It’s nice to see something other than a Maruti car in the top-seller position for a change. Lately, the Punch is starting to beat Maruti cars on a fairly regular basis.

Nexon (11,457): While it’s all good news in the Punch area, the Nexon is another story. It’s still holding strong with 5-figure monthly dispatches, but the impact of the 3XO is apparent. In March 2024, Tata added a few more affordable variants. But the XUV 3XO’s aggressive pricing and fantastic feature distribution made Tata drop the price of the Nexon, if only by Rs. 15,000. As if that wasn’t enough, Tata recently brought discounts of up to Rs. 1.0 lakh on the Nexon. The Brezza is continuing without any significant changes in the discounts. But this move on Tata’s part shows that they are trying to pull up their socks to maintain 5-figure monthly sales of the Nexon.

Tiago (5,927): Tata Motors recently talked at length about their plans for the next few years. Sadly, the Tiago had no place in those future plans. It seems like they don’t intend to bring any changes or generation updates to the Tiago. While it’s doing decent numbers so far, we should expect this car to fade into nothingness in the next few years. It went on sale in 2016 and has already been on sale for more than 8 years. Even Maruti Suzuki take notice of their old cars and give them a major update if it’s been 8 years.

Where we have nothing to say, we won’t say something just for the sake of it. So, here are the top 3 YoY gainers of May 2024 in the Tata portfolio:

Punch (+2.59%): Just as we say in the Hyundai monthly sales analysis, even Tata have just one YoY gainer — the Punch.

Except for the Punch, pretty much all Tata’s SUVs have been on the downtrend since experiencing a spike early in 2024.
