Maruti’s Swift superseded Alto to become the best selling car for both OEM and the Nation for August 2020. It showed strong YoY & MoM growth and continues to signify how the first time car buyers are increasing during this pandemic.
-
Alto slipped to second position and was just 472 units short of the best selling Swift in Aug’20. It had a massive 42% YoY jump though.
-
Wagon-R was the third best selling car in Maruti’s portfolio for Aug 2020. There is a spike seen in the sales of entry level cars and Swift/Alto/Wagon-R sales are a testimony for it.
-
Baleno is still going strong and registered a mammoth 169% MoM growth in July 2020. It was also Maruti’s third best selling car for the month.
-
Dzire has picked up volumes in Aug 2020 – it had previously registered drop due discontinuation of diesel variant. Maruti has aggressively launched a slew of campaigns under ‘Calculate Kiya Kya’ to highlight how diesel cars can prove to be costly in longer run. Believe Maruti has no other option now!
-
Vitara’s ranking has fell drastically over time. Again discontinuation of diesel a big factor here?
-
Ciaz seems to be outdated in front of the New City & Verna. Its volumes have dropped significantly (-23% YoY) and diesel model discontinuation has added to its woes.
-
New S-Cross dispatches happened full-fledged in Aug’20 and hence YoY spike of 279% seen.
