India’s largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki kicked off FY2026-27 on a high note with robust domestic sales growth in April 2026. The company registered total sales of 1,87,704 units, compared to 1,38,704 units in April 2025, marking an impressive 35% year-on-year growth. On a month-on-month basis as well, sales rose by 13% over March 2026’s 1,66,219 units.

Dzire emerged as the brand’s top-selling model with 23,580 units, registering a massive 39% YoY growth and an 11% increase over March 2026.

Maruti Suzuki Ertiga posted sales of 19,063 units, growing 21% YoY and 12% MoM.

Wagon R maintained its strong run with 18,648 units, up 39% YoY.

Baleno recorded 18,306 units, showing a healthy 39% YoY increase and 12% monthly growth.

Swift also witnessed a strong month, with 17,829 units sold. The hatchback grew 22% YoY and 23% MoM.

Maruti Suzuki Fronx sold 18,829 units, reflecting a sharp 31% YoY rise and a strong 21% increase over March 2026. However, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza saw some pressure, declining by 17% YoY to 14,124 units, despite maintaining healthy monthly volumes.

Grand Vitara remained relatively stable with 7,718 units, posting an 8% annual growth and a 14% month-on-month improvement. Meanwhile, the premium MPV Maruti Suzuki XL6 declined by 15% YoY and 11% MoM.

Entry-level models made a surprising comeback in April 2026. The iconic Maruti Suzuki Alto recorded 10,856 units, nearly doubling its sales with a 94% YoY increase.

Even more remarkable was the performance of the Maruti Suzuki S-Presso, which surged to 5,210 units, up a staggering 618% YoY and 2205% MoM. This indicates renewed traction in the affordable hatchback segment, particularly in rural and value-focused markets.
