Maruti Suzuki Victoris has crossed the 1 lakh domestic sales milestone in India, achieving the mark in just over eight months since its launch in September 2025. The SUV crossed the milestone in May 2026, with total wholesales of 1,00,165 units, including 21 units dispatched in August 2025 before full-scale monthly sales began.
For Maruti Suzuki, this is an important milestone. The Victoris is not just another SUV in its portfolio; it is the company’s second major midsize SUV alongside the Grand Vitara, but sold through the Arena channel. That positioning has helped Maruti attack the Hyundai Creta–Kia Seltos dominated midsize SUV segment with a wider retail footprint and a more value-driven proposition.

The Victoris ranked second in the midsize SUV space during Sep’25-May’26, behind only the Hyundai Creta. This is notable because the Creta remains the benchmark in this segment, with a total of 1.52 lakh units during the same period. The Victoris, meanwhile, managed to cross 1 lakh units in its first full sales cycle.
Among the nine models in the attached dataset, the Victoris contributed around 18.4% of total segment volumes, while Creta led with around 27.9%. This indicates that Maruti has managed to create a meaningful second pillar in the midsize SUV market, beyond the Grand Vitara.
Victoris vs Grand Vitara: Internal Competition or Smart Segmentation?
The Victoris shares its platform and powertrain line-up with the Grand Vitara, but its sales performance suggests that Maruti has successfully created a differentiated role for both SUVs. Autocar India notes that the Victoris achieved the 1 lakh-unit milestone faster than the Grand Vitara, which took around one year to reach the same mark.

The Victoris outsold the Grand Vitara by 27,382 units during the period covered in the attached data. The key difference is channel strategy: Victoris is sold through Arena, while the Grand Vitara is retailed through Nexa. This gives Maruti two entries in the same broad SUV space, targeting slightly different customer profiles.
Why Victoris Has Worked
The Victoris gets multiple powertrain options including a 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol, 1.5-litre strong hybrid, and 1.5-litre CNG. The strong hybrid offers an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 28.56 km/l, while the CNG version delivers 27.02 km/kg, according to Autocar India.
The SUV also brings some notable differentiators for Maruti, including Level 2 ADAS, an underbody-mounted CNG tank, and a five-star Bharat NCAP rating. These features make the Victoris more relevant in a segment where buyers are increasingly prioritising safety, technology and fuel efficiency.
Impact on the Segment
The biggest impact of Victoris is that it has strengthened Maruti Suzuki’s overall SUV presence. Earlier, Maruti’s midsize SUV push depended heavily on the Grand Vitara. With Victoris, the company now has two strong players in the same broad category.
From Sep’25 to May’26, the combined sales of Victoris + Grand Vitara stood at:
Maruti Midsize SUV
Sales
Victoris
1,00,144
Grand Vitara
72,762
Combined Total
1,72,906
This combined figure is higher than the Hyundai Creta’s 1,51,963 units in the same period. While Creta remains the single-model leader, Maruti’s two-SUV approach has helped it build a larger combined presence in the midsize SUV space.
Auto Punditz Take
The Victoris crossing 1 lakh sales is more than a simple milestone. It shows that Maruti Suzuki’s Arena-led SUV strategy is working. The SUV has managed to become the second bestselling midsize SUV in the attached Sep’25-May’26 dataset, ahead of established names like the Hyryder, Seltos and Grand Vitara.
The Creta remains the king of the segment, but the Victoris has quickly become its strongest volume challenger. With hybrid, CNG, safety and ADAS as its key talking points, the Victoris gives Maruti a strong weapon in a segment where it had historically lacked dominance.
For Maruti Suzuki, the bigger story is clear: the Victoris has helped the brand move deeper into the midsize SUV market without depending only on Nexa. And if this momentum continues, the Victoris could soon become one of Maruti’s most important SUV nameplates in India.
