The New Honda City again took the crown as India’s No.1 Executive Sedan for September 2020 with sales of 2,709 units. Hyundai’s Verna managed to come 2nd with dispatches of 2,228 units.

The Executive Sedan segment grew 17% YoY and this is the segment has recorded growth after a very long time. 2 new launches (updated City & Verna) has given the required boost in the segment.

Honda’s City is the oldest nameplate in the segment and has been the segment leader since inception. It did face challenge from the likes of Verna & Ciaz; but the latest iteration of the City is showing no signs to lose its dominance in the segment. City recorded one of the highest YoY growth and emerged as the top seller.

Hyundai too launched the Verna facelift early this year and was able to sustain volumes. It recorded a YoY growth of 28% and ranked second in the list.

Maruti’s Ciaz now remains the most outdated model in the list and is now struggling to compete with the likes of City/Verna. It saw a dip is sales YoY and took the third spot in the segment.
