Honda Motorcycles crossed cumulative sales milestone, 70 lakh units

Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India Pvt Ltd (HMSI) said that they had crossed the cumulative sales milestones of 70 lakh units in north India, the first time in its 20 years of operations in the country.

The company, being proud of the success, had entered the market in 2001 with its scooter model called Activa, exclaimed, it took them 15 years for it to touch 35 lakh cumulative sales mark in north India but doubled it in the next 5 years.


HMSI Director of Sales & Marketing, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, told that the company’s first factory was set up in Haryana in 2001. But with the increasing demand, a second factory was set up in Rajasthan. “As Honda is set to begin its 3rd decade in India, the north region shall continue to remain on focus.” He said.

He also mentioned, Honda further strengthening its leadership in the scooter segment with their Activa brand. The company will also be bringing a “quiet revolution” with its new BS-VI motorcycle line-up.


As they had committed to the northern regions, they undertook CSR initiatives in areas of rural education, women empowerment, healthcare, road safety education, and community development, benefitting over 9 lakh people.
