Around 3.5 Lakh passenger cars were sold in the Indian market in May 2025. Vehicle Dispatches was flat over May last year and dropped by 1.1% compared to April 2025.

The dealer stock levels remain high, and the manufacturers are passing on increased discounts to improve the demand. The India-Pakistan conflict following Operation Sindoor affected sales majorly in the Northern part of the country. Maruti reported total sales of 1,35,962 units dispatches last month, which was -5.6% vs last year’s same month and -2% vs last month. The Market Share drop was the highest, from 41.3% in May’24 to 38.9% in May’25.
